CV for Terence O'Byrne

Terence O’Byrne has been involved in software development for nearly 30 years. After graduating from Trinity College, Dublin in the mid 1970’s he worked in Dublin for 8 years including time at ICL Computers running a software development and support team looking after Accounting, Manufacturing and Financial packages. He has also been involved in producing software for pharmacies, newspaper advertising and specialised manufacturing and order processing systems.

In 1985 he moved to the United Kingdom to join Xi Data Systems which had become the leading software house in the country for the production of catering control systems with its Feedback system. His initial responsibility was the development of specialised software for the armed forces, and then took full charge of the software development team. This team produced new versions of the company’s software as well as bespoke solution for a number of customers. Some of these were major projects with billing of over £500,000 and with customers as far away as New Zealand

In 1995 he was persuaded to join one of Xi Data’s customers, who supplied School Meals and Hospital Food. He joined as Software Development Director for the group, producing further developments to the core software as well as being responsible for IT procurement and support.

His experience with software applications for the Catering industry has given him a unique insight into its problems. He joined Holland Automation International (UK) Ltd in 2001 when it acquired the rights to and user base for the Feedback software. He has now been involved with this software as developer and user for more than 20 years.
